India’s ambassador to the US discusses the future of multilateral cooperation in the Indian Ocean region.

On Monday, November 16, at 2:30 p.m. ET, the Atlantic Council will host a virtual discussion with Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra, India’s ambassador to the United States, on the future of the Indian Ocean region and the opportunities for multilateral collaboration among its key stakeholders.

The Indian Ocean is home to some of the world’s busiest shipping lanes, a growing share of global trade and energy flows, and a rapidly evolving security landscape. Maritime security, supply chain resilience, undersea infrastructure, and geopolitics are all considerations as maritime competition intensifies. All these factors pose challenges for effective multilateral cooperation in the Indian Ocean region.

The ambassador will discuss India’s vision for the Indian Ocean region and specific steps the United States and India can take to deepen collaboration with each other and offer constructive, sustainable, and robust solutions.
