An unprecedented number of US companies are looking to relocate supply chains closer to home. This growing interest presents an opportunity to make US companies’ supply chains more resilient and accelerate Latin America & Caribbean countries’ economic growth. Nearshoring is a win for the US and for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). But what should be the next steps?
“From rhetoric to reality: Nearshoring in the Americas,” is the culmination of a yearlong research and consultation process with the Nearshoring Working Group comprised of 18 experts and sector leaders from both the US and LAC. Together, NWG members identified ten opportunities to materialize nearshoring investment to countries across the Americas and how the US government, regional governments, and the private sector can collaborate on moving nearshoring forward, to the benefit of both the US and the LAC region.
Join the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center and its Nearshoring Working Group for an in-person report launch and panel discussion on September 17, 2024 at 10 a.m. (ET) with regional ministers on how to turn nearshoring from rhetoric into reality.
This event celebrates the first year of the Atlantic Council’s Nearshoring Working Group, launched last year with Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Michael Bennet (D-CO). The Nearshoring Working Group consists of multisectoral experts and practitioners from across Latin America and the Caribbean who provided actionable policies to enhance trade and investment towards the region.
