Please join the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center on Wednesday, April 21 at 1:00 PM EDT for a public panel with global finance sector leaders as they discuss how to accelerate the energy transition through increased investments in clean energy technologies.

The COVID 19 pandemic has expedited the shift towards clean energy investing. However, lack of finance and insufficient policy signals remain the biggest barriers to pivoting the global economy to net-zero; according to OECD, USD 6.9 trillion in clean energy investments annually will be required through 2030 to meet climate and development objectives. The panelists will explore how to reach this target by addressing the following questions:

  • How can the climate-related financial risk disclosures enable investors to make better-informed decisions on where and when to allocate their capital?
  • What is the role of ESG commitments and deployment in scaling up investments in clean energy technologies?
  • How can investors address the greatest gaps in clean energy financing, such as investments in new technologies and cybersecurity?
  • What policies and private-public initiatives are needed to derisk clean energy investments?

This event is part of the Atlantic Council “Raising Ambitions” events series, which focuses on the higher climate ambitions that the Biden Administration hopes to realize at home and abroad. It will evaluate key technologies critical to helping reach these goals, emphasize sectoral approaches to decarbonization, and highlight countries increasing their commitments to climate action. The aim is to build momentum in advance of the summit and encourage increased ambition from public and private sector actors.
