On Monday, July 6, at 2:00 p.m. ET/CCS, the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center will host a virtual conversation on recovery efforts in Venezuela following the June 24 earthquakes.
The twin 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes, the strongest to hit Venezuela in over a century, killed more than 2,200 people, left nearly 50,000 missing, and damaged or destroyed some 59,000 buildings across the country. The United States has committed over $300 million and deployed search-and-rescue teams, joined by relief efforts from across Latin America and the world.
What will recovery require in the weeks and months ahead, and how can the international community provide support for Venezuela through this disaster? Leading experts will address these questions as part of the Council’s #VenezuelaForward series.
