Media is a powerful lever in creating awareness about social issues and bringing about a change in thinking and mindset. Kashf Foundation, one of Pakistan’s first specialized microfinance institutions, produced a fifteen-episode television show and feature film entitled Rehaii, meaning liberation, depicting real life stories of Kashf’s clients. Rehaii highlights the plight of low-income families, especially women in Pakistan, who face a myriad of problems but persevere in the face of challenges. Rehaii is a tribute to all the courageous women entrepreneurs in Pakistan, who have struggled against all odds to become business owners,  and exhorts society to think differently about major issues being faced by women in society. The Atlantic Council's South Asia Center is proud to host a screening of Rehaii, followed by a moderated discussion on the outcomes and learning from the project. Roshaneh Zafar, m anaging director, Kashf Foundation and Zainab Saeed, manager of internal and external engagement, Kashf Foundation will share their first-hand perspectives, and thoughts on the possibility of real economic change in Pakistan through women’s rights.
