Please join the Atlantic Council’s Economic Sanctions Initiative on Tuesday, February 19th, at the Atlantic Council’s headquarters in Washington, DC for a public discussion with former US Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew on the strategic deployment of sanctions and the risks of their overuse.
Secretary Lew will be joined in conversation by Ambassador Daniel Fried, a distinguished fellow at the Atlantic Council, to discuss the current US administration’s use of economic and financial sanctions and lessons learned to preserve sanctions’ effectiveness. A high-level panel will start off the event to debate the future use of the sanctions tool more broadly, including in the context of recent sanctions action against Russia and the snapback of US sanctions against Iran.
