Please join the Atlantic Council’s Economic Sanctions Initiative on Thursday, November 8th, at the Atlantic Council’s headquarters in Washington, DC for a public discussion with former US Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew on the strategic deployment of sanctions and the risks of their overuse.   
​Secretary Lew will be joined in conversation by Ambassador Daniel Fried, a distinguished fellow at the Atlantic Council, to discuss the current US administration’s use of economic and financial sanctions and lessons learned to preserve sanctions’ effectiveness in the future. A high-level panel featuring stakeholders from the public and private sector will follow to debate the future of the sanctions tool broadly, including in the context of the November 4th snapback of US sanctions against Iran.
