A conversation with the two Colombian-American lawmakers in the US Congress on Colombia’s upcoming presidential election.

On Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. join the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center (AALAC) for an in-person conversation with Senators Bernie Moreno (R-OH) and  Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), the two Colombian-American lawmakers in the US Congress, on Colombia’s upcoming presidential election.

Nearly a month before the May 31st vote, concerns over electoral security—including threats against leading candidates—are drawing attention in Washington. This bipartisan discussion will examine the electoral environment, efforts to safeguard a free and fair process, and implications for the US-Colombia relationship under the next government.

This event builds on AALAC’s ongoing work to strengthen bilateral ties through its recently launched US-Colombia Strategic Alignment Coalition. It also continues the Center’s engagement with Senators Moreno and Gallego, following a previous conversation on the bilateral agenda over the past year

New policy: In-person attendees will be required to show photo ID upon arrival, and no on-site registration will be permitted. Guests will not be admitted later than twenty minutes after the event’s start time.
