Please join the Atlantic Council GeoEconomics Center and the Rhodium Group on October 11th for the launch of the 2022 edition of our flagship China Pathfinder Project. China Pathfinder is an interactive analysis of the Chinese economic system designed to answer a complex question: where does China’s system stand relative to open market economies?

Over the past year, teams from Rhodium Group and the Atlantic Council have been working to create a ‘shared language’ for understanding the Chinese economy. China Pathfinder uses a quantitative system to score China and other leading economies across six economic areas—Financial System Development, Market Competition, Modern Innovation System, Direct Investment Openness, Portfolio Investment Openness, and Trade Openness—and presents an objective picture of China relative to the world’s largest open market economies.

Josh Lipsky, Senior Director of the Atlantic Council GeoEconomics Center, will give opening remarks. This will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Yao Yang, Dean and Professor at the National School of Development, Peking University, Sofia Horta e Costa, Chief China Markets Correspondent at Bloomberg LP, and Nargiza Salidjanova, Director of the China Projects Team at Rhodium Group.

Daniel Rosen, Founding Partner of Rhodium Group and a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, will present the project’s key findings.
