As the global community continues to grapple with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Atlantic Council is open for business. Our business, meetings, and events, however, are occurring virtually. For more information, please read an update from our President and CEO.

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in his first international trip, engaged in a series of meetings with US President Donald J. Trump on July 8 to mark the entry into force of USMCA. At a time of economic contraction and the continued spread of coronavirus, each president publicly stressed the issues that unite the two countries. What were the major accomplishments of the trip? To what extent did the meetings address irritants to the relationship? What are the immediate next steps for building on issues discussed in the series of White House meetings?

Join the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center for a read-out of President López Obrador’s visit to Washington, DC, and the roadmap ahead for the US-Mexico relationship.
