Delsa Solórzano is a lawyer and politician who will represent her party, Encuentro Ciudadano, in Venezuela’s opposition primary elections on October 22. Solórzano founded Encuentro Ciudadano in 2018 in the hope of bringing a new perspective to the national political landscape. Solórzano represented the state of Miranda in the National Assembly from 2016 through 2021 and has occupied multiple roles within the Inter-Parliamentary Union, including serving as vice president of the Human Rights Commission and of the Latin America and the Caribbean Group (GRULAC).

What are Solórzano’s policy proposals to address Venezuela’s political and economic reality? What is needed from the international community in order to see a free and fair electoral process in 2024? Why is the opposition choosing to participate in elections despite Venezuela’s authoritarian reality?

Join the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center for a virtual public conversation with Delsa Solórzano on Monday, July 17 from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. ET via Zoom, YouTube, and Twitter, to hear directly from Solórzano as she shares her priorities and vision for Venezuela in the years ahead.
