Andrew Buher is a 2016–2017 Millennium fellow and a lecturer at Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs, where he teaches policy courses on implementation and education. He is also a fellow at Georgetown University’s FutureEd and writes Opportunity Knocks, a weekly newsletter focused on expanding opportunities for children.
Buher previously served as chief of staff to Chancellor Dennis Walcott and chief operating officer at the New York City Department of Education under Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Appointed by US President Barack Obama, he served as a nonpartisan White House fellow at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development from 2014 to 2015. He is the founder of Opportunity Labs, a national nonprofit research and policy organization, and serves on the boards of The Equity Project Charter School and America’s Promise Alliance. His writing has appeared in outlets including Politico, The Hill, and CNN, and he has been recognized as a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and French-American Foundation fellow.
