Benjamin Byboth is a 2024-2025 Veterans Advanced Energy fellow with the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center. Byboth is senior manager of power business development and strategy at Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS). With more than twenty years of energy industry experience, Byboth works to commercialize fusion energy, overcome barriers to its adoption, and support siting and project development.

Before joining CFS, Byboth held senior positions at major electric utilities. Most recently, as the director of grid modernization at Eversource Energy, he focused on regulatory work aimed at building a more reliable and sustainable power grid. Before that, Byboth co-founded Entergy’s KeyString Labs and led the development of new lines of business. Byboth’s experience in nuclear power plant operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership includes eight years with the US Navy on submarines and eight years with commercial power plants.

Byboth served as a disaster reservist for the American Red Cross. He is a graduate of the New Orleans Anti-Defamation League Glass Leadership Institute, where he contributed to the No Place for Hate program. Byboth earned a bachelor of science in nuclear engineering technologies from Thomas Edison State University, studied chemical engineering at the University of New Hampshire, and obtained a master of business administration from Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business.
