Jennifer Dabbs Sciubba is a nonresident senior fellow with the Strategic Foresight Initiative of the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security and an assistant professor in the Department of International Studies at Rhodes College.

Dr. Sciubba is an expert in the field of demographic security and consulted for the Office of the Secretary of Defense (Policy) in Arlington, VA on population, environment, and energy issues from 2006 to 2007. Following this appointment, she received an international fellowship to study at the International Max Planck Research School for Demography in Rostock, Germany.

Dr. Sciubba frequently speaks and publishes on the political implications of demographic trends for both policy and academic audiences. Her latest book is The Future Faces of War: Population and National Security (Praeger/ABC-CLIO 2011) and she has published in International Interactions, Social Movement Studies, International Area Studies Review, International Journal of Human Rights, Orbis, the Huffington Post, The New Security Beat blog, and in several edited volumes. The National Defense University Foundation recognized her work as outstanding and awarded her the 2009 Kiley Award for Best Feature for her article “The Defense Implications of Demographic Trends” in Joint Force Quarterly.

Dr. Sciubba received her PhD from the University of Maryland, where she was awarded a graduate fellowship with the Harrison Program on the Future Global Agenda. She received her BA, magna cum laude, from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, GA. Her courses at Rhodes College include “Population and National Security,” “Global Ecopolitics,” “Comparative Ecopolitics,” “the Politics of Migration,” and the “Environmental Studies & Sciences Senior Seminar.”
