Jonathan Kirschner is a participant in the 2023 Climate Leadership Program of the Atlantic Council’s Millennium Leadership Program and the managing director for the Blue Haven Initiative’s investments. Most recently, Kirschner was the head of investments and led the investment committee for the Omidyar Network, a global mission-driven investment fund. Kirschner served in the Obama administration as an advisor on blended finance, Power Africa, and the United States Agency for International Development’s internal venture capital fund, Development Innovation Ventures. Previously, Kirschner worked as a venture-capital and private-equity investor in Brazil and Colombia and was head of international expansion for a Brazilian tech company.
Kirschner started his career as a consultant with Bain & Company in New York and South Africa, where he focused on private equity and strategy consulting. He co-wrote Success in Africa, a book on doing business in Africa. Kirschner has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, an MPA in international development from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a BSFS from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service.
