Ms. Kadi Silde was appointed as Undersecretary for Defence Policy at the Estonian Ministry of Defence in January 2019. In this position, she is responsible for policy planning, intelligence coordination and operations planning; EU, NATO, UN, OSCE matters; transatlantic relations and other bilateral and multilateral international cooperation. She provides advice to the Minister of Defence in her field, represents the ministry in various international as well as inter-agency fora, and leads the work of a team of 50 people to ensure the delivery of policy on a diverse set of issues. Ms Silde joined the Ministry of Defence in 2008, holding various positions including the director of policy planning. She joined Estonia’s EU Council Presidency team in 2017, working on defence initiatives such as the European Defence Fund, PESCO and military mobility, and was subsequently seconded to the European Commission.
