Matt McDonald is Head of Strategy & Operations for marketing at YouTube, the Chief of Staff to the Chief Marketing Officer. Matt leads global strategic planning, resource management and communications, which included policy reviews relating to extremist material on YouTube. Prior to his current role, Matt led a variety of marketing initiatives at YouTube including Abdullah-X, a joint venture with the UK Home Office to counter violent extremism with technology, where he presented the findings to EU Home Affairs Commissioner Cecilia Malmström. In addition to his time at YouTube, Matt held business development roles at Spotify and product management and marketing at venture backed e-commerce startup Kiwi Crate. Matt began his career as a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, advising Fortune 100 companies in the finance, healthcare and energy industries. Matt is passionate about public affairs and policy, having been involved in Federal and State election campaigns.
Matt graduated from Dartmouth College with a BA in History.
