Civil Society

Mira Patel is a Wharton MBA who has built multi-million dollar partnerships and advised two Cabinet officials on economic, trade, and foreign affairs policy. She is currently a Fellow at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

Mira has served in a variety of leadership roles within the Obama Administration and is focused on furthering economic development and the advancement of human rights through technology, entrepreneurship, and innovative public-private partnerships. Most recently she served as the Senior Advisor for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and was previously appointed to Secretary Clinton’s Policy Planning Staff at the U.S. Department of State developing policy, programming, and communications on international human rights. In these roles, Mira launched multi-million dollar public-private partnerships including the Global Equality Fund and the Women in Public Service Project and defined U.S. diplomatic policies and operations on gender integration and international LGBT rights. She previously worked for the U.S. Senate, the Center for American Progress, and Lehman Brothers.

Mira holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Political Science from Wellesley College. She has been recognized for her public service contributions by the Washington Post, McKinsey & Company, American Association of University Women, Advocate Magazine, and Go Magazine. She is a Point Foundation Scholar, an Atlantic Council Millennium Fellow, and a Council on Foreign Relations Term Member.
