The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics quotes Africa Center Director J. Peter Pham on the importance of Nigeria’s move to outlaw female genital mutilation:
J. Peter Pham, Director of the Africa Center at the Atlantic Council, told the International Business Times: “Nigeria, just because of the sheer size of its population, has one of the highest absolute number of cases of FGM in the world.
“One cannot overestimate the impact of any decision by Nigeria [on the continent].”
