Public Panel on the Political Crisis in Hong Kong and the Future of “One Country, Two Systems”

On September 12, the Scowcroft Center hosted a public event focused on Hong Kong’s current political crisis and the future of China’s sovereign claim over the island territory and its “one country, two systems” formulation. The event featured remarks from Amb. Kurt Tong, the former US Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau, as well as a panel discussion that included Dr. Richard Bush from Brookings, Ms. Sarah Cook from Freedom House, and Mr. Clay Lowery from the Institute of International Finance. Our board director, Mr. Olin Wethington, organized and moderated the event.
