Description
Our Young Global Professionals are an integral part of the Office of Finance and Operations (OFO) and Financial Operations team. With a growing organization and high demand for our team’s assistance, most of our efforts are all-hands-on-deck and we encourage interns to actively engage with events, projects, and strategies. This position will offer an opportunity to acquire experience and exposure to the logistical elements of international non-profit operations, business management, strategic development, Board of Directors management and cross-functional special projects while gaining a broader understanding of international affairs.
The Office of Finance and Operations Financial Operations team operates across the Council’s seventeen programs and centers, offering unparallel access and unique opportunities to engage with every aspect of our work and mission. The team works with staff members across the entirety of the organization not only to ensure everyday business operations run smoothly but also lead in the project management of organizational strategic priorities.
The successful candidate(s) will have a passion for the work, an entrepreneurial ethos, and a collegial spirit while also being an effective communicator and enjoy a fast paced and dynamic working environment. Demonstrated knowledge of or interest in business management, communications, and leadership through classwork and/or experience is strongly preferred.
This internship is based at our Washington, DC headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in the office. Interns will be compensated at a rate of $18.00 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the logistical elements for two Board of Directors Committee Meetings each quarter, including drafting documents and coordinating materials for Board Members and attendees.
- Support the management of the organizational corporate credit card program. Including monitoring the overall system to ensure a smooth user experience, troubleshooting errors and liaising directly with internal staff and external vendors.
- Assist with project management for financial operations special projects, including coordinating and attending high-level meetings, drafting communication materials, and helping to ensure key stakeholders buy-in.
- Assist with data integrity projects, including identify areas for improvement in internal data storage and designing and implementing better processes.
- Support all aspects of the procurement process for internal department vendors, including preparing and proofreading service agreements and invoice management.
- Participate in weekly team meetings, monthly Atlantic Council meetings, and other internal meetings.
- Assist with the development and implementation of international training and financial operations resource materials, including SharePoint intranet updates and enhancements.
- Assist with routine administrative support to the Vice President of Finance and Administration as needed.
Qualifications
- Must be at least a college junior, graduate student, or a recent graduate, preferably majoring in international affairs, public policy, economics, communications, or a relevant field.
- Must work well with others and interact professionally with senior figures.
- Excellent research, writing, editing and proofreading skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Teams is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with ability to work well in a flexible environment.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hrs/week) is preferred.
