WASHINGTON – Defense News has named Atlantic Council President & CEO Frederick Kempe and Board Directors Michèle FlournoyArnold L. Punaro, Michael V. HaydenMarillyn HewsonJames Stavridis, and Sean O’Keefe in its “100 Most Influential People in US Defense” list out today.

Published annually by the leading source for military and government news, Kempe was cited for building an “all-star team” and a “heavy-lifting organization” that has grown significantly. Said Defense News, “When Kempe – a former Wall Street Journal reporter and editor – took over the Atlantic Council, it was a sleepy but venerable think tank committed to supporting the Atlantic Alliance. But it has expanded dramatically, opening Middle East, Latin America, Asia and defense industry studies…”

In 2012, the Atlantic Council launched its Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security, which continues the Council’s long-standing focus on NATO and the transatlantic partnership, while also studying over-the-horizon regional and functional security challenges.

The list was created over several months by Defense News editors and reporters. View the full list here.
