Atlantic Council Please join the Atlantic Council for a conversation with Dr. John R. Deni of the US Army War College on “Poised to Defend: Rebalancing US Force Posture in Europe and Beyond.” The event will take place on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Atlantic Council’s headquarters.

The United States and its allies are facing some of the gravest international security threats since the end of the Cold War. A range of conventional and hybrid challenges, from Europe’s east to the Korean Peninsula, are becoming increasingly urgent and require an effective response from the United States. But with the US Army’s current force posture reflecting a vision laid out fifteen years ago, US strategic positioning requires a rethink.

In his latest study, “Rotational Deployments vs. Forward Stationing: How Can the Army Achieve Assurance and Deterrence Efficiently and Effectively?”, Dr. John R. Deni of the US Army War College, lays out why the US Army must rebalance its force posture through a tailored increase in forward stationing.

We hope you can join us for this timely discussion on how the US can effectively and efficiently achieve deterrence and assurance in Europe and northeast Asia.
