As Western defense priorities rapidly refocus and global trade increasingly resembles a double-edged sword, the transatlantic partnership offers challenges and opportunities in equal measure.

From the helm of a global company with roots in both defense and commercial aerospace, Airbus Group CEO Thomas Enders will argue that the transatlantic partnership must recalibrate to remain both relevant and resolute: not just across the ocean, but across the often bigger divide between politics, military, and industry.

An industrialist to the core, he will discuss what the supply chain for such a revamped partnership could look like. Along the way, he will explore the role of governments, the responsibility of industry, and the reluctance of young talent to tackle such key issues going forward.

Tom Enders was appointed chief executive officer of EADS/Airbus Group in May 2012 after being CEO of Airbus SAS from 2007. Following the creation of EADS in 2000, he was appointed head of the EADS Defense and Security Systems Division, holding this position until 2005 when he was appointed co-CEO of EADS. Enders was president of the BDLI (German Aerospace Industry Association) from 2005 to 2012.
