Indo-PacificLieutenant Colonel Kevin M. Wheeler, USMC, is a nonresident fellow in the Indo-Pacific Security Initiative at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. He currently serves as the operations officer and logistics integrator within the logistics division at Marine Forces Pacific in Hawaii. Prior to this role, he was the Regimental Logistics Officer for 3d Marine Littoral Regiment, where he contributed toward deterrence operations in the first island chain.
Wheeler’s career includes a range of tactical to strategic assignments, including his time as an analyst in the Joint Staff J-7, where he contributed to wargames and assessments supporting initiatives like the Joint Warfighting Concept. Some of his earlier assignments included combat deployments focused on foreign force advisement and strengthening of logistics supply chains at small unit level. His extensive experience living and working throughout the Indo-Pacific region has shaped his commitment to fostering meaningful relationships grounded in shared interests and regional cooperation.
Wheeler holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Norwich University Military College of Vermont and is a graduate of the Joint Forces Staff College. He also holds Master of Science degrees from both the Naval Postgraduate School and the National University of Singapore.
