Tao Tan is a 2024 Millennium fellow and senior managing director at a private family office, where he leads private equity investments into strategic sectors. Tan has extensive experience in finance, strategy, and business transformation. He was previously senior vice president at Fanatics, a partner at Perception Capital, and an associate partner at McKinsey & Company, and he has worked in venture capital and investment banking. Tan is a senior advisor to multiple technology companies on space launches, small modular nuclear reactors, and financial technology.
Tan is a trustee of the Museum of Chinese in America, a member of the Economic Club of New York, and a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He also supported the founding of the Columbia School of International and Public Affairs’ Institute of Global Politics. Tan received his BA and his MBA, both with honors, from Columbia University, where he was an Erwin Wolfson scholar and a Toigo Foundation fellow. He serves on the Education Committee of the Columbia University Senate and teaches at Columbia Business School.
