On Tuesday, May 27 at 9:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council will host the 2025 Christopher J. Makins Lecture featuring British Ambassador to the United States The Rt Hon Lord Mandelson on the role of the United Kingdom (UK) in maintaining robust transatlantic relations.
The UK remains a critical partner to the United States and Europe and a crucial component of the transatlantic relationship. Amid a period of growing geopolitical challenges, British leadership remains indispensable. With the announcement of a US-UK trade agreement and a UK-EU summit in May, the UK continues to play an active role in transatlantic dialogue.
Against this backdrop, Lord Mandelson will present the 2025 Christopher J. Makins Lecture. He will offer his views on the current state of the bilateral relationship with the United States and how the UK is working to maintain effective transatlantic relations.
This discussion is hosted by the Europe Center, and it will take place in person at the Atlantic Council’s global headquarters in Washington, DC. About the Makins Lecture
The Europe Center presents this event as the latest installment of the Makins lecture series, launched in 2005 to honor the memory of former Atlantic Council president, Christopher J. Makins. The event brings together European and US policymakers and experts to discuss the state of the Atlantic partnership and its future direction. By providing a platform for discussion and stimulating provocative discourse on the importance of the Atlantic alliance, the lecture carries on the heritage and vision of this extraordinary Atlanticist.
