Ryan J. Lamke is a nonresident senior fellow with the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center. He is also the director of advanced energy and technology at Red Duke Strategies, LLC, where he leads the company’s strategic efforts at the intersection of energy resilience, emerging technologies, and national security.
Prior to joining Red Duke Strategies, Lamke held multiple management and advisory roles at the US Department of Energy (DOE). He led efforts to expand US energy market influence abroad, with a particular focus on energy trade, critical mineral supply chains, and the deployment of renewable technologies. Lamke led teams responsible for major international projects throughout Africa and Europe and represented the United States in strategic bilateral and multilateral energy negotiations. As a senior international policy advisor, he advised DOE executives and the interagency on US interests regarding China’s growing influence in the energy and geopolitical arena and the importance of energy resilience in potential conflict. He also led major initiatives throughout Southeast Asia and Japan.
Throughout his career, Lamke has devoted considerable free time to supporting veteran causes and advocacy efforts. As an infantry non-commissioned officer in the US Marine Corps, he served with distinction in Iraq, throughout the Middle East, and in Eastern Africa, earning the Purple Heart Medal, two Combat Action Ribbons, and multiple campaign medals. He has also received numerous awards throughout his civilian life including multiple awards from the Department of Energy, Department of Veterans Affairs, and from various veteran service and disability advocacy organizations.Lamke holds a master of science in national security strategy from the National War College, and a bachelor of arts in liberal studies from Georgetown University
