On Tuesday, September 16 at 11:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center will host an expert discussion on Moldova’s upcoming parliamentary elections.

On September 28, Moldova hosts parliamentary elections as the country stands at a crossroads between European integration and recalcitrant Russian influence. While the presidency and Moldovan parliament are run by the pro-West Party of Action and Solidarity, they face a rising opposition, some members of which maintain financial ties with the Kremlin and its cronies. After Kremlin efforts to influence Romania’s elections fell short, Moldova’s polls will be Moscow’s next battleground and a test of Moldova’s resistance to Russian malign interference as it charts its path towards European Union membership.

In the lead-up to the elections, the panel will discuss what to watch for and potential implications of the results.
