The Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center hosted a panel titled Sustainable Energy Future: Merging Finance, Regulation, and Design on April 24, 2015. The Hon. Richard Morningstar provided welcome remarks and moderated the discussion between panelists: David Milner, CEO of NuGen Capital, Ross Chanin, Visiting Scholar at Stanford University’s Precourt Institute for Energy, and Peter Dean, a faculty member of the Rhode Island School of Design’s Nature-Culture-Sustainability Studies program.

The panel, which was the second event in the Global Energy Center’s New Technology Series, provided a comprehensive view of the current energy landscape and discussed how the financial, regulatory, and design aspects of renewables will impact the future of sustainable energy. Panelists addressed how to effectively design products to incentivize greater usage of sustainable energy, how to overcome major impediments to integrating renewables within the current power structure, and what elements are necessary for venture capital and private equity investments into renewables.
