Eastern EuropeErika Șerban is the assistant director for operations at Atlantic Council Romania. She is responsible for supporting procurement, bookkeeping, financial reporting, and legal compliance activities, ensuring full alignment with Romanian and EU regulations. In this role, she is contributing to the smooth functioning of the organization by strengthening internal processes, ensuring adherence to institutional policies and external laws, and enabling operational systems that effectively support programmatic activities.
Prior to joining the Atlantic Council, Șerban served as compliance, ethics & sustainability strategy responsible, where she led human resources and compliance operations across all departments, supporting business growth, operational integrity, and adherence to international standards. She designed, implemented, and maintained the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 37001:2016 management systems, coordinated surveillance audits, and achieved seven consecutive years of zero nonconformities as internal compliance officer. Șerban engaged with TRACE International LLC to ensure global compliance alignment for consulting services and developed structured recruitment, evaluation, and training systems. Additionally, she helped in positioning her organization as a strategic partner in governance, ethics, and sustainability by implementing high consulting standards, strengthening the corporate governance framework, and drafting the company’s Internal Procedures and Operational Manual.
Șerban holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in engineering and is currently a PhD student, with her research focused on quality and sustainability in organizational excellence within companies.
