Nana Menya Ayensu

Nana Menya Ayensu is a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Nuclear Energy Policy Initiative. Spending his career leading innovation at the intersection of technology and business, Ayensu brings innovative and differentiated solutions to the global energy, digital, and financial services sectors.

Previously, he served as a member of the Biden-Harris Climate Policy Office, leading several workstreams related to clean energy and climate. These issues include nuclear energy, electric grid modernization and expansion, offshore wind, and distributed energy resources. Ayensu also worked on climate finance, supporting the development of new capital solutions to help promote manufacturing and project investments, voluntary carbon markets, and climate-related financial risk. Moreover, he covered emerging climate and energy-related issues such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and commercializing new technologies. 

Before joining the White House, he was a partner at Sidewalk Infrastructure Partners, which builds and invests in technology-enabled infrastructure platforms; a director at ENGIE, helping industrial and infrastructure clients address their decarbonization challenges; and in various roles at General Electric, where he worked on project finance, new business development, technoeconomic modeling, and research and development. 

Ayensu holds a bachelor of science (with honors) in mechanical engineering and Japanese from Harvard University and a master of science in materials science and engineering from Stanford University.
