Daniel Schwab

Daniel Schwab is a 2026–27 Millennium fellow and a science and technology policy leader focused on international research collaboration, research security, and global scientific talent systems. He currently serves as senior advisor for policy and international programs in the US Department of Energy’s Office of Science, where he helps shape international engagement and research security policy across an $8.4 billion fundamental research portfolio and the national laboratory system. Previously, Schwab was a science and technology fellow with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, serving in the Department of Defense’s Basic Research Office, and an embassy science fellow at the US Embassy in Tokyo. Schwab is an elected member of the Global Young Academy, where he co-leads an initiative on early-career research systems and scientific talent mobility. He is also the founder and president of STEM for Development, supporting more than 15,000 students across more than one hundred countries through mentorship and research training. He holds a PhD in biology from Indiana University.
