On August 2, 2012 the Atlantic Council’s Dinu Patriciu Eurasia Center and South Asia Center hosted a private, off-the-record discussion on Afghanistan and Central Asia with Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General Ambassador Miroslav Jenča.
He also serves as the head of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. The session focused on Afghanistan, the implications for Central Asia in light of recent developments there, and how changes in the international presence and role in Afghanistan are seen in Central Asia, including the effects of the 2014 withdrawal from Afghanistan on the region.
