The Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub is thrilled to host the virtual launch of a new report, “Forging the 5G future: Strategic imperatives for the US and its allies” on Wednesday, September 4th at 10:00 a.m. ET.
As China rapidly emerges as the global leader in 5G tech, it is critical for the United States to regain its historical technological edge in the critical communications field. The stakes are high, as nations that lead in 5G development and deployment will shape global standards, secure strategic advantages, and potentially influence the global digital landscape for decades.
In this report, Nonresident Fellow Ngor Luong outlines a set of key policy recommendations to reassert US leadership in the 5G space along with allies and partners. The report presents research findings from a series of public events and private workshops, with additional interviews with relevant stakeholders from regulatory authorities to industry experts, to assess US and Chinese 5G development based on two metrics: spectrum availability and network equipment & infrastructure.
The discussion will take place virtually. You can also view the event on the Youtube link above, on X (Twitter) or on Facebook. To RSVP, please register via the registration box on this page.
