On Thursday, April 28 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security at the Atlantic Council hosted a panel titled “Future of US Defense Alliances and Partnerships” during the US Army War College’s Annual Strategy Conference.

The panel featured Atlantic Council experts Dr. Nora Bensahel, Dr. Roger Cliff, Mr. Paul R.S. Gebhard, and Dr. Aaron Stein moderated by LTG David W. Barno USA (Ret.) who provided perspectives from Asia, the Middle East and Gulf, and Europe, as well as thoughts on the future of the Army going forward. The greatest challenge for the Army will be how to allocate resources to adequately address needs across the globe from a smaller defense budget without diminishing combat capability.

The US Army War College's (USAWC) Annual Strategy Conference for 2016 was hosted April 27-28, 2016. This year, the conference was framed around four defense strategy panels, co-hosted with leading Washington, DC think tanks, over two days. A keynote presentation given at the US Army War College preceded the first panel, and the last panel was followed by closing comments also delivered at the USAWC. The goal of the Strategy Conference was to broaden the access afforded to our military, government, and public audiences by making all conference events available via real-time broadcast on the internet, and for later viewing through recorded webcasts.
