On Wednesday, July 22 at 10:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center will host a discussion on the mounting problems facing Russia as Ukraine’s deep-strike campaign brings the war home to Moscow.
President Vladimir Putin is arguably at his most vulnerable point since the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. Kyiv’s expanding mid- and long-range drone strikes on Russian oil refineries, military logistics hubs, and “shadow fleet” tankers have triggered widespread fuel shortages, forced hundreds of flight cancelations, and stoked fears of economic stagnation among some Russians. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s blockade of Crimea threatens to sever Moscow’s supply lines to the peninsula Putin seized in 2014. This all spells bad news for the Kremlin.
Former US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst moderates a conversation on the myriad costs now being imposed by Ukraine on Putin’s Russia.
