On Thursday, July 30 at 1:00 p.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center will host an event launching the newest report in its pathbreaking Russia Tomorrow series. This report examines the emergence of “Outer Russia” following the mass exodus of Russian artists and cultural leaders after Moscow’s 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In Outer Russia: How the war sent culture into exile, author Mikhail Zygar, nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, assesses how a globally dispersed, Russian-speaking cultural and informational space formed as a counterweight to Kremlin-approved culture advanced by Vladimir Putin’s authoritarian Russia.
