Minister José Manuel Albares Bueno outlines Spain’s vision for European security and the future of the transatlantic alliance.

On Tuesday, September 22, at 4:15 p.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Security Initiative will host a conversation with José Manuel Albares Bueno, the Spanish minister for foreign affairs, European Union, and cooperation. The event will take place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York City.

Spain has been an active voice in shaping Europe’s response to continued instability on the European Union’s and NATO’s eastern and southern flanks. Madrid sits at the intersection of Europe’s most pressing security questions, and its approach will shape the debate across the transatlantic community.

With wars ongoing in Ukraine and the Middle East and the transatlantic relationship under strain, Albares will discuss Spain’s vision for European security, allied burden-sharing, and the future of the alliance.
