Please join the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security’s Forward Defense practice for our latest event titled “State of the Space Industrial Base 2022: Advancing prosperity, sustainability, and US leadership in outer space.”

This latest event in our Defense-Industrial Policy Series will take place on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET via Zoom.

A nation’s ability to achieve its strategic priorities is increasingly bound by its effective use of outer space. As the war in Ukraine demonstrates, commercial satellites can provide a critical lifeline, bolstering government, military, and civil operations. While the irreplaceable role of commercial space today underscores the need for a strong space industrial base, it similarly puts a target on the back of commercial space assets in the eyes of the adversary. This conversation will consider the current state and future trajectory of the space industrial base amid crowding and competition in the domain.

The event will feature the launch of the State of the Space Industrial Base 2022 report, a joint effort of the U.S. Space Force, Defense Innovation Unit, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the Air Force Research Laboratory. The report collates perspectives of over 350 experts and officials as heard during the fourth-annual State of the Space Industrial Base conference in Spring 2022.

On August 24, we will be joined by a panel of space experts and report authors to discuss how the United States can maintain its competitive edge in the space domain.

We hope you can join us for this timely discussion. To receive the virtual Zoom link, please complete the registration form below.
