On Thursday, May 14, at 4:00 p.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s GeoStrategy Initiative in the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security and the Freedom and Prosperity Center will host a high-level discussion on the US government’s new Trade Over Aid Initiative.
The United States is seeking to reform its approach to development assistance. The Trade Over Aid Initiative, which focuses on countries of strategic importance to the United States and was first launched in April at the United Nations, is intended to promote pro-business reforms in developing economies that create a mutually beneficial environment for both US businesses and local economies.
New policy: In-person attendees will be required to show photo ID upon arrival, and no on-site registration will be permitted. Guests will not be admitted later than twenty minutes after the event’s start time.
