On Thursday, October 8, at 5:00 p.m. CET, the Atlantic Council’s Democracy + Tech Initiative will host a conversation with senior policymakers on the future of EU-US technology relations.
Shifting political and economic priorities, heightened geopolitical tensions, and competition over artificial intelligence are reshaping the transatlantic technology partnership. As digital sovereignty becomes a central policy objective, European and US officials are reassessing longstanding approaches amid growing distrust, even as shared interests offer opportunities for cooperation.
The discussion will explore what digital sovereignty means in practice, where the United States and Europe are pursuing different paths, and where cooperation remains possible. The event accompanies the publication of the Atlantic Council policy paper: “Sovereignty without borders: Decoding the transatlantic digital relationship at a time of change.”
New policy: In-person attendees will be required to show photo ID upon arrival, and no on-site registration will be permitted. Guests will not be admitted later than twenty minutes after the event’s start time.
