Latin America, with its history of female heads of state, seems to be a rising global leader in terms of notable women in top-level leadership roles. What is the region's secret sauce? Does this phenomenon translate to the empowerment of women throughout Latin American societies? And are women rising to the top across sectors?
Join the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center on Wednesday, May 31, from 9:00a.m. to 10:30a.m. (EDT), for a discussion on the realities of women in business and politics throughout the region and concrete tools to guide the empowering of female leadership. The event will launch our latest report, Women's Leadership in Latin America: The key to growth and sustainable development. Speakers include: Adrienne Arsht Latin America founder and Atlantic Council Executive Vice Chair, Adrienne Arsht; former United States Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Michelle Flournoy, the first woman to achieve such a ranking; and Mexican Congresswoman Alma Arzaluz Alonso (PVEM). Chilean President Michelle Bachelet will offer special remarks via video.
Location: Atlantic Council headquarters, 1030 15th Street NW, 12th Floor, Washington, DC.
Breakfast will be served at 8:30 am / Discussion starts at 9:00 am
