Alisha Mathew is a 2023 Millennium fellow and a senior lawyer in the office of Amal Clooney, specializing in international law and human rights. Mathew works on cases before international and national courts, advocating for accountability and justice in situations of genocide, widespread sexual violence, and other egregious human rights violations.
Prior to this role, she was a lawyer in an international law firm representing governments and corporations in international arbitrations, advising on issues of public international law, business, and human rights. Mathew previously worked in the not-for-profit sector, advising governments in United Nations treaty negotiations for a new agreement on the oceans, managing casework for a national pro bono program, and surveying anti-human trafficking efforts in Cambodia. She holds a master of law from Columbia Law School, as well as a bachelor of law and bachelor of international studies from the University of New South Wales.
