Áslaug Arna Sigurbjornsdottir is a 2026–27 Millennium fellow and is leading a new AI research initiative at Fenris Creations, building neutral sandboxes where frontier AI labs, universities, and safety institutes can study how autonomous agents behave against real people. She is a former politician from Reykjavík, Iceland, with more than a decade of experience in government and public service. She was a member of the Icelandic parliament from 2016 to 2026 and served as minister of justice and later as minister of higher education, science, and innovation. She has held leadership roles in government and the Independence Party, shaping national policy on justice, education, innovation, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. Before entering politics, Sigurbjornsdottir worked as a journalist and a police officer. She studied law at the University of Iceland and holds a master’s in public administration in global leadership from Columbia University.
