
Danial Abdul Rahman

Danial Abdul Rahman is a 2026–27 Millennium fellow and currently serves as chief executive officer of the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute, a nonprofit think tank under the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation. His work centers on strengthening public-sector capacity, leadership effectiveness, and institutional reform across Malaysia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. His current research focus includes the green economy and industrial policy, as well as third-sector and charities reform. Rahman has served across three federal ministries—Finance, Education, and Higher Education—contributing to national initiatives such as the annual budget, the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Council, and Malaysia’s National Education Plan 2026–2035. A longtime columnist and television host, Rahman regularly engages policymakers and global partners on geopolitics, multilateralism, and development challenges. He holds a postgraduate law degree from Oxford University, with a bachelor’s from the International Islamic University Malaysia. He recently completed a senior fellowship with the National University of Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
