Hasib Danish Alikozai

Hasib Danish Alikozai is a 2026–27 Millennium fellow and chief of Voice of America Afghanistan, overseeing the organization’s broadcasts to Afghanistan via radio, digital platforms, locally affiliated TV stations, and satellite in Dari and Pashto. Alikozai took over the branch in July 2021 and directed its response to the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan that year. He also oversaw the launch of a round-the-clock direct-to-home TV channel for Afghanistan. Previously, Alikozai served as the managing editor of VOA’s Extremism Watch Desk, where he oversaw coverage related to terrorism and extremism. Before joining VOA in 2009, Alikozai served as a cultural adviser at NATO headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan. He holds a bachelor of arts in international affairs from Georgetown University, a master of arts in global security studies from Johns Hopkins University, and a second master’s degree in international development from American University’s School of International Service. In 2019, Alikozai was the sole participant in the Partnership for Public Service’s Excellence in Government Fellows Program.
