Marek Magierowski is a nonresident senior fellow with the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center.
Magierowski is a long-serving diplomat with three decades of experience working in the fields of journalism, politics, and international affairs. Most recently, Magierowski served as Poland’s ambassador to the United States. Previously, between 2018 and 2021, he served as Poland’s ambassador to Israel and also held the role of deputy foreign minister, specializing in economic diplomacy and relations with the United States, Latin America, and Asia. From 2015 to 2017, he served as head of the Press Office and spokesperson for the president of Poland, overseeing strategic communication and public engagement.
Magierowski’s diplomatic career has entailed work on foreign policy, global security, and transatlantic relations, with an additional focus on the Middle East, the global economy, and Cold War history. His publications include the book Exhausted, which concerns the European Union’s financial crisis, as well as numerous op-eds, essays, and media appearances. He is fluent in multiple languages, including German, French, Italian, Hebrew, Spanish, Portuguese.
Before beginning his diplomatic career, Magierowski was a journalist. He served as deputy editor in chief of Rzeczpospolita and Forum and as foreign desk editor for Newsweek Polska. He holds a master’s degree in Hispanic studies from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
