Naz Durakoglu is a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab).
Naz is the Senior National Security Advisor to Senator Jeanne Shaheen and the minority staff director of the U.S. Senate’s NATO Observer Group. She also directs all hearings, executive branch nominations, and legislation related to the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation where Senator Shaheen serves as the Ranking Member.
Previously, Naz was a resident senior fellow focusing on Russia, Turkey, and information defense with the DFRLab. In her capacity as a resident fellow, Naz testified before Congress and was featured in various publications like The New York Times and Wall Street Journal for her research uncovering Russian disinformation efforts in Turkey and France.
Prior to the DRFLab, Naz served in the Obama administration as the senior advisor to the Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.
Naz began her foreign policy career in the U.S. House of Representatives where she served in various roles, including as the staff director for the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Subcommittee on Europe and Eurasia.
She holds a BA in philosophy and psychology from Rutgers University’s Honors College and a MA in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College.
