About the Future of Money pillar

The Future of Money pillar produces cutting-edge research, trackers, and data visualization to shape the way forward on the future of the dollar, payments systems, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), stablecoins, and cryptocurrencies. Its multi-year projects are relied upon by central banks and finance ministries, and its high-level convenings bring together policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders to advance dialogue on the future of money and the global economy.

About the GeoEconomics Center

The GeoEconomics Center develops data-driven programs, publications, and thought leadership at the nexus of economics, finance, and foreign policy. The Center aims to bridge the divide between these oft-siloed sectors with the goal of helping shape a more resilient global economy. Its work is built on the idea that the United States must lead with allies or risk becoming a bystander in a reshaped international financial system. The Center is organized around three pillars: the Future of Capitalism, the Future of Money, and the Economic Statecraft Initiative.

Overview of the Role

The Deputy Director, Future of Money, will lead the day-to-day management of this cutting-edge pillar of the GeoEconomics Center’s work. Reporting to the Center’s Senior Director, the Deputy Director will help develop and implement the pillar’s strategy, oversee its research, data, and convening agenda, steward and grow its funding base, and manage a team of junior staff and interns while engaging the Center’s nonresident senior fellows. This position requires close and continuous collaboration with colleagues across the GeoEconomics Center and with other regional and functional centers across the Atlantic Council.

The ideal candidate will be an intellectual entrepreneur with deep knowledge of digital currency, cross border payments, monetary policy, central banking, and international economics; an emerging or recognized voice who can represent the Center to senior government officials, central bankers, corporate executives, and donors; and a hands-on manager with a proven track record in project management, fundraising, and budgeting. Above all, the candidate will have a commitment to the Atlantic Council’s mission and enthusiasm for finding pragmatic solutions to pressing global economic challenges.

This position is based in our Washington, DC, headquarters, requiring a minimum of four (4) days per week in office. Occasional to moderate (< 25%) domestic and international travel is expected, as well as periodic participation in evening events. The Atlantic Council offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience and education, with offers from $100,000 to $125,000. Applications submitted by January 8, 2027, will be prioritized for consideration.
